My baby! It’s name is STARTER!!!

Aside from the infuriating fact that I still cannot comment on my own posts, it has been a good day. Especially since my starter is healthy and thriving! Honestly, I feel like a gushing mother. The first bubbles were like a baby saying it’s first words. Why do I experience a sense of pride over fermenting flour and water? That is a very good question, some would say I am crazy, well I blame it on being passionate!
It is now the third day and I am feeding it regularly, every 12 hours or so. Each time I dispose of half the mixture, then add 1/4 cup of water and 3/8 cup of flour. All you have to do is mix and wait, it’s that simple. Today I also switched bowls so I could wash out the icecream container I store my starter in. Because remember, we want yeast, not mold!
Unfortunately, the pictures truly do not do it justice. It’s difficult to see the bubbles, but believe me, they are there! And did I mention the smell!?! Yummy!!! Or raunchy, depending on which way you look at it!

So the plan is to keep it happy, feeding it at 12 hour intervals as I said. This time next week and we should have bread (knock on wood, I don’t want to jinx myself). If not, I can always go out and buy a loaf of sourdough and say I made it! See, I am thinking ahead of the game!!!

    Very exciting indeed! I am a little bit obsessed. But it is definitely something everyone must try at least once.
