I’m not sure what this post is supposed to be. Maybe a recipe, or is it more of a product promotion? Perhaps you could even consider it a lifestyle post. But mainly, it’s just a post about smoothies. Or if you are a certain someone, you prefer to call them “squishies”. Don’t even ask me where that originated.
Anyways, smoothies. Probably the most versatile drink/meal/dessert/snack/whatever you want it to be on the planet. Maybe it’s just me but there is something about drinking out of a straw that makes whatever you are drinking that much better. After a long run, there is nothing I would rather have than a smoothie. You can make them healthy and load them up with fruit and veggies. But the word “smoothie” means that it is healthy regardless right? Throw in a banana, a splash of soy milk, a scoop of vanilla icecream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce and I will still vouch that it’s still a smoothie. And a relatively nutritious one at that.
Here’s the kicker though; for ultimate smoothie convenience one must have the quintessential immersion blender. Sure you can use a regular old normal? blender (is there actually a specific term for these?). However when you are making yourself a breakfast smoothie before running out the door in the morning, do you really want to deal with the clean up? Not to mention the fact that you have probably woken up everyone in the house (no fear though, at least you can appease them with smoothies!). So moral of the story, my Bamix is my favorite kitchen tool by far. And if you don’t have one (not necessarily a Bamix in particular, but just an immersion blender in general) you should get one. Now I’m not trying to tell you what to do, but….ya ok I’m trying to tell you what to do. I just can’t explain their awesomeness. Sure they can blend smoothies, milkshakes or any other drink under the sun. But they can also puree soups and sauces. You can use them to make salad dressing. I even decided to blend up a watermelon vinaigrette the other day. How do you like them apples? Or should I say, watermelons?
Berry Soy Smoothie (makes 1 serving)
– 1/2 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
– 3/4 cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)
– 1/2 cup soy milk
– 1/2 cup orange juice
– optional – honey, for added sweetness
Let me start by saying that I may actually prefer using frozen berries etc. in smoothies. They provide that freezy factor without watering the drink down like ice cubes do. Anyways, just blend and enjoy. You can change up the amount of liquid depending on how thick/thin you like it. Drink up!
